P物质是一种十一肽激素（RPKPQQFFGLM），是神经肽速激肽家族的一员，可介导多种生物活动，参与感觉、运动、情绪等的调节，并与焦虑症、抑郁症、精神分裂症的发病机理有关。P物质广泛分布于脊椎动物的外周和中枢神经系统，在负责调节情绪的脑区（杏仁核、导水管周围灰质和下丘脑等）比较丰富，同时在初级感觉神经元的胞体及神经纤维上有较高表达。
